Portrait of Melanie Jasinkiewicz

Melanie Jasinkiewicz, Principal

I am honored to serve as the Principal at Matoaca Elementary. It is my belief that learning is not contained within the four walls of our school but it is continually occurring in a child’s life, in school and within their community. There will be volunteer opportunities, family nights, curriculum nights, PTA functions, and more. Through our partnership, students are provided the best education needed to be successful.

I have a Masters in Education from Marymount University and an Education Specialist Degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. I grew up in Chesterfield and am a product of Chesterfield County Public Schools. I began my teaching career in Henderson, NV before moving back to Chesterfield, where I taught kindergarten and first grade at Hening Elementary and Spring Run Elementary. Then I had the opportunity to return to Hening Elementary as the Title 1 reading teacher for grades K-5.

My husband, Brian, and I live in Chesterfield. I have three adult children, Brandon, Haley and Aaron. I have a spunky and sweet granddaughter, Willow, who I love spoiling!! My other baby is a fur baby, Oakley, and she is a Labrador puppy. I love to spend time reading a good book and cheering on the Hokies!!

Please feel free to email me at melanie_jasinkiewicz@ccpsnet.net or call me if I can assist you with anything.

I am really looking forward to continuing to work with the students, staff, and families of Matoaca Elementary. It’s going to be a great year! 5 Tribes…1 Village

Sincerely,
Melanie P. Jasinkiewicz
Principal

Portrait of Shirelle White

Shirelle White, Assistant Principal

I am a proud native of Camden County, North Carolina, who has had the privilege to live in the states of California, Texas and Virginia. I am thrilled to join the Matoaca Elementary School family. I received my undergraduate degree from Shaw University in Business Management, my Certification in Specific Learning Disabilities from Virginia Commonwealth University, Masters’ Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Administration Supervision from University of Phoenix and my Educational Specialist Degree in Special Education from Walden University.

I have been in education for 19 years. Of my 19 years, 10 years I served in Sussex County Public Schools as an elementary self-contained special education teacher for four years and six years as a middle school special education teacher; where I worked in both the self-contained and collaborative learning environments. While in Sussex County Public Schools, I was honored with the Teacher of the Year award and served as the Special Education Department Chair for nine years. In 2016, I became the Coordinator of Special Education for Falling Creek Elementary School until my transition as the Assistant Principal at Matoaca Elementary School. The 19 years of education has afforded me the opportunity to serve and support students, teachers, administrators, families and an array of community members. My career change to education has been nothing short of a tremendous delight. This is truly my passion.

I am a mother of two children, David and Kara, who both live in the sunny state of California. I am a foster/auntie of a sweet Yorkie named Angel. She does not live with me nor has she ever spent the night with me -  I need more classes.

In my community, I enjoy service projects through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, which  I have been a member of for 38 years and I serve as an associate minister at my church. It is my desire to support MAES’ students, staff and families with excellence and great achievements.
